The results of a study show that eating walnuts improves metabolism in obese mice fed an unhealthy diet.

Walnuts, which are high in omega-3 fatty acids, have been shown to improve metabolism in obese mice fed a high-sugar, high-fat diet.

In this study, a number of mice with poor diets that millions of Americans followed this type of diet and caused the growth of obesity among individuals, and another group of mice received a low-fat diet.

In the study, which lasted nine weeks, U.S. researchers found that rats fed walnuts had lower levels of fatty acids that reduce blood inflammation and less fat in their livers.

Also, these mice did not lose extra weight because their calorie intake was the same as the mice in the other group.

Overall, key indicators of metabolic health in walnuts-fed mice, including high-density lipoprotein (HDL) and low-density lipoprotein (LDL), were adequate, the researchers said.
