Welcome to the role and painting of Iranian kilims in Bulgaria
The second international and one-month-old kilim exhibition was held in Kotel, with the participation of the Iranian Cultural Advisory Council in Bulgaria and in cooperation with the Cocktail Municipality and the Trakian Foundation of Bulgaria, according to the General Directorate of Public Relations and Information of the Organization of Islamic Culture and Communication. The exhibition will be held in Burgas and Sofia after Cocktail.
The opening ceremony was attended by Mohammad Ali Kiani, Iran’s cultural advisor, diplomats from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Indonesia and the mayor and officials of the city of Cocktail.
At the opening of the exhibition, the head of the Rah-e Trakian Foundation said that Iran’s permanent presence at the Bulgarian Glim Exhibition would continue the exhibition and appreciated Iran’s cultural advice for this significant presence.
According to the report, the traditional city of Kotel (a small town in southeastern Bulgaria known as the “Renaissance Kindergarten”) is one of the historical cities and centers of Bulgarian handicrafts.
Kuttle’s carpet weaving, as a long-standing occupation, has deep historical roots. The 18th-century protected carpets housed in museums in Bulgaria are a testament to this claim. The development of the art of carpet weaving in Cocktail is based on home carpet weaving. This has led to the establishment of the original Kotel carpet weaving school.
Kutel’s traditional carpet weaving is now preserved, and many small workshops are created by carpet weaving masters. There is even a carpet weaving school in the city called Galatan School, where a permanent exhibition of Cocktail carpets has been set up.
