Seyed Razi Miri, vice president of the Union of Manufacturers and Exporters of Handmade Carpets, said: “Excessive production of handmade carpets stems from the lack of proper competition culture among domestic producers, which has caused prices to fall due to market saturation in world markets.” .
Babian added that in recent years, China has made a huge demand for handmade carpets, adding that this has led producers and weavers to produce carpets, which in turn has reduced the production of handmade carpets.
Miri added: “The main market for this product is abroad, and the recession in Europe has also overshadowed the country’s handmade carpet export market and reduced exports.”
Seyed Ali Mortazavi, a manufacturer of handmade carpets, said: “Due to the lack of support from the authorities, the production of handmade carpets is currently decreasing by 30%, and due to this issue, exports in this sector have decreased.”
Regarding the global registration of Iranian designs and roles, the carpet manufacturer said: “All carpets that have not yet been registered nationally and globally will be registered nationally.”
Regarding the situation of exporting carpets to other countries, he said: “Iranian carpets and tablecloths are in great demand in the markets of the United States, Australia and China.”
Mortazavi also said about the situation of raw materials used in this industry: the yarns used in domestic carpets are mostly imported and should be formed in order to support the producers of basic infrastructure in the country
