When the world does not know the only barberry producer in the world!
Barberry; This is the constant companion of saffron chicken and beautifier of Iranian tablecloths and products that are full of properties and are better known to Iranians.
While South Khorasan is the only barberry producer in the world and its strategic products are unparalleled in the world, its people do not share in this globalization. None of the stone houses, the cold wind, and the thorns on the ground have diminished the love and hospitality of the people of this region. None of the blades on these trees sit on the hearts of its people. This can be understood from the sweetness of their words after the difficulty of harvesting barberry.
Barberry, saffron and jujube in South Khorasan have been called strategic because in addition to being unique in the world, they can boost part of the economy of South Khorasan.
The people of South Khorasan are mostly farmers, but the agricultural economy does not seem to be defined for them, believe it or not, for this valuable product, which is planted and harvested, and puts sweat on the farmer’s face. They use the word barberry for anything offensive, but officials In the face of difficulties, they have tried to introduce this strategic product to the world, one of the origins of which is South Khorasan.
In an interview with ISNA, Mohsen Ehtesham, President of Birjand Chamber of Commerce, announced the annual production of 21,000 tons of barberry and said: Our share of the export portfolio of this strategic product is very low and incentive packages should be developed to introduce and market barberry.
He spoke about the unknown barberry in the world and continued: This strategic product of South Khorasan should be introduced to the world and made.
He called for allocating low-cost facilities for the establishment of barberry health centers and processing of this product, and added: In the discussion of jujube, there is a need to introduce this product more in the country and the world, and the Development and Trade Organization should include an incentive package for jujube in the global market To compile.
He said: Retailers and major owners should take the necessary care in the stages of planting, holding, harvesting and drying agricultural products.
Ehtesham continued: it is necessary for the officials of Jihad Keshavarzi to provide hygienic packages to farmers in order to store agricultural products.
He stated: Birjand Chamber of Commerce for the past 12 years has taken measures including preparing a comprehensive plan for the production of barberry and preparing a catalog to introduce this product in a foreign language, but this is not enough and requires the entry of trustees.
The head of the Birjand Chamber of Commerce stated: If the training of farmers is not taken seriously, saffron growers and barberry growers will face a major obstacle to entering the European market.
He said: Currently, the remnants of toxins in barberry are high and do not comply with international standards. Also, in the process of collecting this product, health issues are not well observed.
