The director of horticulture of Yazd Jihad Agricultural Organization said: 37,000 hectares of orchards in Yazd province are under pistachio cultivation and its average yield in the province is 1200 kg, which is in a good condition compared to the national average of 800 kg.

Abolfazl Vakili stated: The average yield of pistachios last year was 594 kg per hectare due to frost.

He mentioned the production potential of Yazd province about 32 thousand tons of dried pistachios and added: last year’s production was 16 thousand tons due to frost.

Vakili stated that up to 80% of the country’s pistachios should be exported, and added: in order to continue exporting pistachios, it is necessary to create suitable conditions for the product and observe international standards.

Pistachios are exported to the European Union, Korea, Japan, Afghanistan, Pakistan and the newly independent Soviet Union, Vakili said.

He emphasized that the national plan for tracking and controlling critical points of pistachio production controls all stages of pistachio production. Runs.

Vakili stated: Execution of fertilizer operations at the level of 457 hectares, foliar spraying with micronutrient fertilizers, quantitative and qualitative increase of production at the level of 290 hectares, winter spraying to reduce the limited use of pesticides in orchards at the level of 300 hectares, full spraying and spring spraying Macro and micro at the level of 750 hectares, improvement and pruning of orchards at the level of 100 hectares and holding training workshops for 120 people are among the programs that were implemented last year for the national plan for tracking and controlling critical points of pistachio production.

He added: In the areas where this project was implemented according to the supervision and foresight of experts in various fields of pest control and nutrition, we succeeded in terms of quantity and quality of production and gardeners tend to continue the project.

He estimated the estimated production this year at between 28,000 and 32,000 tons, adding that the percentage of damage was close to 30 percent or less.
