The Deputy Minister of Crop Production Improvement of the Sistan and Baluchestan Agricultural Jihad Organization said: So far, 4,700,000 hectares of agricultural lands in the north and south of the province have been planted with onions.

Amanullah Tooghi, Deputy Director of Plant Production Improvement of Sistan and Baluchestan Agricultural Jihad Organization, stated: Chabahar, Rask, Dashtiari, Iranshahr, Konarak and Bampour counties are the main onions growing areas in Sistan and Baluchestan.

He continued: It is predicted that by the end of December, five thousand hectares of agricultural fields in the province will be allocated for onions cultivation.

Deputy of Plant Production Improvement of Sistan and Baluchestan Agricultural Jihad Organization said: the harvest season of this product in the province will start from the end of January and will continue until the spring of next year and it is predicted that more than 170,000 tons of product will be harvested and sent to the market.

Sistan and Baluchestan has a great diversity in terms of climate, so that the regions of Iranshahr, Zabol and Bahuklat desert climate and Zahedan region are located on the border between desert and semi-desert climate.
