The first export of grapes to Russia began. According to the head of the Fruit and Vegetable Exporters Association of West Azerbaijan, in addition to this shipment, 14,920 tons of grapes produced by gardeners in the province will be exported to Russia, Azerbaijan, Iraq and the Persian Gulf countries this year.
Hudoodi Azar added: Red and white currant, Qandil Orum, Rish Baba and Sardasht black grapes include the grape varieties exported from West Azerbaijan, which are prepared in standard packages of five to eight kilograms.
He continued: The grape export of West Azerbaijan gardeners this year is four times the export of last year and is expected to have a value of 15 million dollars.
The head of the Fruit and Vegetable Exporters Union, referring to the problems of the grape export sector in the province, announced the lack of proper packaging units and transportation system as the problems of fruit and vegetable exporters: only due to the use of foreign transport fleet, a quarter of value added Fruit exports are wasted.
He said: Exported grapes of gardeners in the province in terms of quality and not using dangerous pesticides and controlling the use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers and integrated control of plant pests is the first in the country.
