The head of the Natural Resources and Watershed Management Department of Garmsar city announced the beginning of barberry harvesting operations from the summer pastures of Garmsar and Aradan cities.

Bahram Mirakhori added: In the last six years, the Natural Resources and Watershed Management Department of Garmsar city has provided about 500 barberry seedlings in line with the plan of sustainable management of water and soil resources of Hableh Rud and job creation for the villagers of this region from Birjand and Ghaenat cities. He said: Barberry bushes were first planted as a pilot project in Aradan and Ivanki summer area and passed its experimental stages successfully and it was found that it is compatible with the climate of Garmsar and Aradan cities.

The head of the Natural Resources and Watershed Management Department of Garmsar city, continued: the shrubs planted in the two areas of Ivanki and Aradan did well in the planned mission and these areas are now considered as distribution centers for barberry seedlings.

Mirakhori, stating that efforts are being made to provide these seedlings to other applicants and users, clarified: Many summer areas of Semnan province have the ability to grow barberry shrubs.

He specified: the summer areas of Garmsar and Aradan counties are prone to barberry cultivation and on average, each barberry shrub produces seven to eight kilograms of crop.

Head of Natural Resources and Watershed Management of Garmsar city, added: Barberry has many medicinal benefits that increase the activity of the immune system, stimulate iron absorption and prevent scurvy, treatment of kidney stones, blood purification and disinfection are just some of these benefits Is.
