Khalilabad raisin export halted due to Corona virus outbreak
The director of Jihad Keshavarzi Khalilabad said:
This year, not only was there no agreed purchase of raisins, but on the other hand,
with the outbreak of the corona virus, even the export of this product was stopped.
Mahmoud Shaban, stating that the producers of raisins are almost not in a good condition,
announced the area under cultivation of vineyards in the city as 5,700 hectares and stated:
The average annual yield of vineyards is 22 tons.
He said:
about 20,000 to 30,000 tons of raisins are produced annually in the city,
of which 100% golden raisins and 20 to 25% green raisins are exported and the rest is consumed domestically.
The raisins that are now left in the hands of the producer are about 1,500 tons of raisins,
which would have been exported at the end of last year and the beginning of this year if it were not for the outbreak of the Corona virus.
The director of Khalilabad Agricultural Jihad said that the main factor in the fall in market prices was the crisis of coronary
heart disease and the slowness of exports, adding:
Rural cooperatives did not enter into an agreement to purchase raisins,
brokers stepped in, which led to a drop in the price of the product, and the Corona crisis added to the problem.
He stated:
This city is the center of grape production in the province with the production of 150,000 tons of grapes at the level of 15,700 hectares.
This year, we are on the agenda of forming a cooperative of raisin exporters and constructing a raisin export terminal.
Shaban said:
the quality product of raisins will preserve and strengthen the position of Khalilabad city,
if the position of Khalilabad raisins is strengthened,
the agricultural economy of the city will definitely increase.
Our view in the city is to eliminate the brokers and intermediaries of the raisin market.
He also informed about the activity of 12 thousand and 400 agricultural operators in this city and added:
although in the province the highest level of insurance of vineyards with 2500 hectares is related to this city, but the level of commitment is very low.
The shepherd said:
Although insurance has a commitment of 10 to 12 million tomans per hectare,
but it is very small for one hectare and this has made farmers reluctant to insure.
He continued:
in a garden that has 22 tons of grapes, it costs about 45 million Tomans per 2,000 Tomans per kilo,
but if this garden is 100% damaged, the insurance pays only 10 to 12 million Tomans.
The director of Khalilabad Agricultural Jihad said:
Currently, we have the change of grape cultivar in the city on the agenda.
We are trying to reduce the production volume of raisins and eat fresh Turkmen 4 and film in the city by cutting or transplanting.
