Grape harvesting started from 11,500 hectares of vineyards in Malekan city.

Malekan city supplies 70% of the province’s grapes and about eight% of the country’s grapes.

Malekan city is the center of grape and raisin production and the main occupation of the vast urban and rural population in city is vineyard,
so that even a large number of urban population in city, Leylan and Mubarak cities in this city make a living this way.
Therefore, the economy of the whole city of Malekan depends on income through the sale of grapes and raisins.

The grape harvest season from the vineyards of city starts every year from September 6 and continues until the end of October,
and during these 45 days, the labor market and the sale of baskets, oil and acid poisons become very hot.

the director of Malekan Jihad-e-Keshavarzi stated:
Every year, about 250,000 tons of grapes were harvested from vineyards. Due to the cold damage,
it is expected that about 52,000 tons of fresh produce and 17,000 tons of raisins will be harvested.

Hassan Alivand also referred to the purchase and sale price of raisins and stated:
Considering that the current price of California raisins is 5400 Tomans, the price is expected to increase.

The director of Malekan Jihad-e-Keshavarzi also pointed to the impact of holding grape festivals in Malekan and added:
According to the conference that is held every year with the presence of exporters,
the product of this city has been introduced and has found good customers.

He pointed to the cold damage in the winter of last year and said:
There are 11 thousand and five hundred hectares of vineyards in city,
which unfortunately this year, about 80 percent of the orchards have been damaged due to last winter’s cold.

Regarding the payment of compensation to gardeners affected by last year’s cold, he said:
The damage was about 220 billion tomans,
and the gardens that were covered by insurance have been approved and are in the stage of assessing the damage.

The official continued:
The subsidy paid for grapes in 1395 was 13 billion tomans, a significant part of this amount has been transferred to the accounts of private farmers.

According to this report, 90% of the grape products produced in this city are converted to acidic and California raisins and processed and packaged
in Malekan raisin factories and Maragheh and Bonab cities and exported to the Persian Gulf, European countries and Russia.

However, due to the lack of standard offices and industrial and customs research in city,
the product of Malekan raisins is registered in neighboring cities and it is announced in the mass media that it is necessary
to establish these offices in CITY.
