Beginning of grape harvest from the orchards of South Khorasan
The director of horticultural affairs of the Jihad Agricultural Organization
of South Khorasan announced the beginning of grape harvest from 2767 hectares of orchards in the province.
Abdolreza Rezaei stated:
2767 hectares of the province’s orchards are under grape cultivation, of which 900 hectares are under dryland grape cultivation.
He pointed out that the amount of grape production last year was 15 thousand 804 tons, adding:
this year’s harvest forecast is 16 thousand 500 tons.
The director of horticulture affairs of the Jihad Agricultural Organization of South Khorasan,
stating that the main production areas are Qaen, Khosf and Zirkuh, clarified:
In this area, we have 4,000 people exploiting.
Rezaei stated that about 70% of the grapes produced are consumed inside the province and the rest are sent outside the province, said:
Grapes are harvested fresh from the end of June and this harvest will continue until the end of September.
He reminded that the traditional processing units of raisin production are active in the province, reminded: in the field of processing more of this product, grape juice is produced in the province.
