Caviar production from the Caspian Sea remained at the level of three tons

Sari – The Deputy Minister of Jihad for Agriculture and the head of the Iranian Fisheries Organization stated that the amount of caviar production from the Caspian Sea this year is three tons and said: This amount of caviar has not increased compared to the previous year.

Gholamreza Razeghi, on the sidelines of the opening ceremony of the first non-governmental sturgeon breeding center in Sari: The main approach of Iranian fisheries is to revitalize and rebuild the fish stocks of this sea.

He added: It seems that in case of joint planning to create conditions for revitalization and reconstruction of the Caspian Sea, all five Caspian littoral countries will be able to achieve proper growth of caviar harvest.

He pointed to the production plans for sturgeon breeding in the country and said: Currently, we have planned and implemented several sturgeon breeding projects and even sturgeon breeding projects in sea cages.

Razeghi provided the ground for investment in the production of sturgeon and said: This year, about 500 kg of farmed caviar was produced in the country, part of which was exported to European countries for the first time.

The head of the Fisheries Organization of Iran described the policy and approach of fisheries support for aquaculture, including the provision of technical and consulting services and facilities, and said: Last year, about 250,000 tons of aquatic species were produced in the country. It will reach one million tons.

He considered the establishment of the first sturgeon breeding center in Mazandaran an honor for the country’s fisheries and said: The support of the governor of Mazandaran for the development of fishery projects is commendable.

Mazandaran annually produces about 80,000 tons of fish.

On the seventh day of the Fajr Decade, the first non-governmental center for sturgeon breeding with 40 billion Rials and employment for 27 people was opened in Sari.
