Forecast of harvesting more than 100,000 tons of onions out of season in Minab

Referring to the beginning of off-season onions planting in the region, the director of Minab Agricultural Jihad said: more than 100,000 tons of onions products will be harvested in Minab.

The director of Jihad Keshavarzi of Minab city, referring to the yield of 25 tons of onions per hectare of farms under cultivation in Minab, said: “This year we will increase production compared to last year and it is expected more than 102,500 tons of fresh onions from 4,100 Hectares of farms to be harvested in Minab city.

Salari stated: Hashtbandi, Tirour, Telang and Ravang are among the important points of off-season onions production in the city.

He said that the main activities are holding extension classes and workshops, implementing pressurized irrigation system, observing the correct principles of planting and feeding in a timely manner, fighting pests and diseases and weeds, and continuous monitoring of farms and technical advice to them regarding biological control. He knew that he has played a direct role in producing this product in the farms of this city.

The official pointed out the existence of two types of late and early varieties of this product in the region, noted: The harvest season of early varieties of this product begins in late December and continues until late March and late varieties of onions are harvested from late February to late April. .

Minab city is the first producer of off-season onions production in the province.
