Ghaenat has the highest barberry production in the world

Ghainat city in Khorasan province, due to lack of rainfall due to limited water resources, is prone to produce many strategic agricultural products,
so that according to statistics, the first place in the production of barberry in the world and Iran belongs to this city.
The director of Jain Agricultural Jihad added:
Currently, barberry harvesting has started from 4,212 hectares of barberry orchards in the city,
which with 75% of the cultivated area has been able to account for 85% of the total barberry production in Iran.
The road engineer pointed out:
more than 50% of the total area of the city’s orchards is formed by barberry orchards,
which has caused 12 thousand and five hundred families from the urban and rural population of Qaniat to work in the production and distribution
of this product.
He said:
These activities provide more than 1,500 job opportunities annually.
He continued:
in order to prevent damage from accidents such as floods and autumn rains, 150 barberry storage and barberry drying
warehouses have been established in the city.
