Onion harvest in Iranshahr exceeded 17,000 tons
The director of Iranshahr agricultural jihad said: more than 17,000 tons of onion have been harvested from 2 hectares of agricultural lands in this city and sent to the consumer market.
Majid Fayazi, Director of Iranshahr Agricultural Jihad, stated: In each hectare of Iranshahr agricultural land, an average of more than 50 tons of onions have been harvested.
Referring to the high quality of onions produced in Iranshahr, he added: The climatic conditions of the region have led to less pesticides being used to produce onions, so the products are of high quality.
Director of Iranshahr Jihad-e-Agriculture, stating that onion cultivation started in November and its harvest will continue until the end of June, said: Texas and Karima cultivars are cultivated in this city, which has good marketing.
He stated: In addition to being supplied in the markets of Sistan and Baluchestan, the onions produced in Iranshahr are transported to the provinces of Khorasan Razavi, South Khorasan, Tehran, Isfahan and Fars.
Fayyazi stressed the importance of reforming the cultivation pattern in the agricultural sector to save water consumption.
He mentioned the use of modern irrigation system, seedling cultivation, proper nutrition and timely planting date among the measures of agricultural jihad in order to improve the yield for planting this crop.
The director of Iranshahr Jihad-e-Agriculture stated: More than 50 people are working in planting and harvesting onions in this city.
