Prediction of 95,000 tons of grapes from Kurdistan vineyards
Pourhabibi Bashareh said that Kurdistan is one of the top provinces in terms of grape production in the country: Grape harvest will continue for another month in this province and it is expected that 95,000 tons of grapes will be harvested from Kurdistan vineyards during this period.
He added: out of 13,000 hectares of vineyards in Kurdistan, about 5,000 tons are irrigated and 8,000 hectares are rain-fed orchards.
Director of Horticulture of Jihad Keshavarzi of Kurdistan Province stated: The yield of grape production and harvest in the province this year has decreased by 10% compared to last year due to the late spring cold.
Pointing out that Kurdistan ranks third in the country in terms of dryland grape production, Pourhabibi said: Sanandaj, Kamyaran, Bijar, Marivan and Baneh are the main centers of grape production in Kurdistan.
He continued: From the seedless water gardens of raisin, red and yellow, Fakhri and Askaria and in the rainfed vineyards, we can mention the roots of Marivan and Khoshe Baneh.
Pourhabibi said: about 75 to 80 percent of the province’s products in conversion industries are exported outside the province, but a small percentage is exported to neighboring provinces.
