Real and realistic motifs are not found in the original Turkmen rugs
Ahrari added: Turkmen carpets are completely symbolic and no trace of real and real designs can be seen in the original Turkmen carpets. The Turkmen tribes of this region are Sunni and in their view the use of real motifs is a bit reluctant, and for this reason animal and plant motifs are symbolically woven in their handicrafts.
He said: In this region, silk breeding has been practiced in Riyadh since ancient times, so that many villages in this region have the suffix or prefix of mulberry, which is the food of silkworm, such as the names of Tutli, Tutak, etc .; In fact, planting a mulberry tree as a sacred plant is common in this area and it has happened mainly due to the cultivation of silkworms.
He continued: Fortunately, in recent years, more attention has been paid to the capacity of this province, and the agencies in charge of this issue, such as the Noghandari Development Office and the Agricultural Jihad, have taken action to raise silk in this region from various sources. Silk has been significant in this area.
A member of the Iranian Carpet Scientific Association explained about the type of carpets woven in this region: The carpets that are woven in this region are 100% woolen or silk. One side of the carpet has one role and the other side has another role.
Ahrari reminded: Of course, in recent years, a number of businessmen living in Mashhad and other cities have invested in these villages, and unfortunately, maps related to other areas are woven in this area. Some families have moved away from the original Turkmen weaves, and carpet weaving has become more commercial and in some cases away from its original aspect.
He said: Carpet weaving is reserved for women in the Turkmen tribes, so that Turkmen women and girls weave in carpet weaving workshops, which mainly have horizontal carpet weaving, and the knot used in this region is used to weave carpets. Some families have a symmetrical node and some have an asymmetric node.
A member of the Iranian Carpet Scientific Association stated: The silk used in carpet weaving is mainly harvested by the people of this region and usually the silk is not bleached and is used raw, as yarn, in the weaving rugs of this region.
