The beginning of peanut cultivation on the threshold of Ashrafieh
The director of Astana Ashrafieh Agricultural Jihad said: 5,000 Astana almond farmers started cultivating this crop today.
Hamidreza Soleimani announced the beginning of peanut cultivation in this city and said: peanut cultivation starts every year from the middle of May.
He added: Using the seeder this year, 10% of the city’s lands will be mechanized under cultivation of this crop.
Soleimani continued: On average, 6.5 tons of cocoons and four tons of edible peanut seeds are harvested from each hectare of farm.
The director of Astana Ashrafieh Agricultural Jihad said: 5000 Astana almond farmers annually produce 35% of the production of this crop in the country by producing more than 10 thousand tons of peanut nuts.
He pointed out: This city is the slaughterhouse of the best peanuts in the country due to having a long river in Sefidrood in its heart and its alluvium and light and quality soil that is the product of Sefidrood sediments and also the mild Mediterranean climate.
Soleimani stated: Peanuts are harvested after 110 to 120 days of the growing season in late August.
