The effect of black cumin seed aqueous extract on the treatment of obesity

The results of six weeks of aerobic exercise and simultaneous consumption of aqueous extract of black cumin seeds were reviewed and published by researchers at Birjand University.

Obesity is recognized worldwide as an important factor in the development of various diseases and studies have shown that regular aerobic exercise is an important factor in weight loss and its associated risks.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of 6 weeks of aerobic exercise and consumption of aqueous extract of black cumin seed (carumcarvi) ‌ on serum levels of adipulin, irisin, lipid profile and expression of CTRP 12 and FNDC 5 genes, adipose tissue, body weight changes. And the subcutaneous fat of male rats was obese. In this experimental study, 32 obese male rats were followed by a 12-week high-fat diet.

The studied mice were randomly divided into 4 groups: control, exercise, cumin extract (2% food), exercise + black cumin extract (2% food). Exercise groups performed aerobic exercise (approximately 70% -55% VO 2 max) 5 days a week for 6 weeks. Changes in body weight and subcutaneous adipose tissue were also measured.
Aerobic exercise in combination with black cumin extract significantly reduced the final body weight and weight of subcutaneous fat, triglycerides, total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein compared to the control group and increased high-density lipoprotein, adipoline, irisin, FNDC 5 gene expression and CTRP was 12 compared to the control group.

According to the research findings, it is suggested to use moderate intensity aerobic exercises and consumption of black cumin seeds to reduce obesity-related disorders and weight loss. Cumin is one of the plants that is traditionally used for weight loss.
