The role of Kermanshah in the production of sturgeon
The Director General of Fisheries of Kermanshah said: this province can be a leader in the production of sturgeon in the country.
Kiomars Shahbazi, stating that 12.1 tons of sturgeon were produced in Kermanshah province last year, added: It is expected that between 18 and 20 tons of sturgeon meat will be produced in the province this year.

He said that good work has been done in Kermanshah province in the field of caviar production and sturgeon farming, including the construction of three 1000-ton Glin Gilangharb complex, 200-ton Tang Mansouri complex in Islamabad-Gharb and the first phase of the 100-ton Sarpol-e-Zahab hot mirage project in He informed the field of sturgeon breeding and added: Fortunately, the credit of Sarpol-e-Zahab and Islamabad projects has been agreed and we are following the necessary measures in the field of infrastructure of these projects.
Shahbazi added: We are also pursuing receiving credit for the Glenn Gharb 1,000-ton complex in the city of Gilan-e-Gharb.
Shahbazi further stated that the brand of sturgeon production in the world belongs to the Caspian Sea, said: In the not so distant years, 50 tons of caviar was extracted annually from the Caspian Sea, this figure is almost zero in the current situation.
The Director General of Kermanshah Fisheries, stating that the country’s policy in the field of caviar production has changed to production in domestic sources over the past few years, added: In this regard, between five to six farms have been established in different parts of Kermanshah province.
Shahbazi added: between five and six species of sturgeon in the Caspian Sea have also entered the province.
He said that last year we delivered the largest amount of productive fish to the International Sturgeon Institute of Gilan, adding: This figure reached more than 80 pieces.
Shahbazi referred to the issue of sturgeon production and continued: According to the plans made this year, we should import 10,000 pieces of sturgeon into the province.
