Director of Sarvabad Agricultural Jihad, said: Walnut harvest started from 2,500 hectares of orchards in Sarvabad city and it is expected that more than 6,000 tons of walnuts will be harvested and sent to the market.

Quoting the public relations of Jihad-e-Keshavarzi in Kurdistan province, Mohammad Rahimi stated in this regard: The walnut harvest begins every year from the middle of October and continues until the end of November.

He added: 2,500 hectares of land in the city are walnut orchards, of which 2,100 hectares are fertile and 400 hectares are infertile gardens.

The director of Sarvabad Agricultural Jihad stated: The average yield of walnuts per hectare is three tons and it is predicted that this year 6,300 tons of walnuts from the orchards of this city worth 31 billion Rials will be harvested and sent to the market for consumption.

Rahimi, pointing out that Sarvabad is the first in Kurdistan province in walnut production, said: The production of 4,992 kilograms of walnuts per hectare of garden has also been registered by producers.

He said: in Sarvabad city, 4,100 families are active in the production, maintenance and harvesting of walnuts, and in this way they earn a living.

The director of Sarvabad Agricultural Jihad pointed out: Due to the old walnut trees, the improvement and renovation of the old gardens of this city is on the agenda and so far 70 hectares of orchards have been branched and transplanted to new cultivars.

Rahimi reminded: In this regard, training and orientation classes for farmers and gardeners were held by the Jihad Keshavarzi management, and we hope that by branching out and transplanting old trees, the average harvest yield will reach the national average in the coming years.
