The director of Jihad Keshavarzi of city announced the beginning of harvesting grapes and saffron peaches from the gardens of the city.

Ahad Zafari, stating that city, despite 11,200 hectares of orchards, is the center of horticultural production in the province, said: This city is able to produce 77,500 tons of fruits annually and send them to the market.

He continued: The area under grape cultivation in Nahavand is 635 hectares, which is expected to produce more than 10 thousand and 700 tons of grapes of ruby, seedless, asgari and rhizobaba annually.

The director of Nahavand Agricultural Jihad stated: Since more than 15% of Nahavand grapes produced are harvested in the best way, this city produces grape juice or high quality water in the province.

He pointed out: the rest of the produced grapes are consumed fresh in the city and more than 50% of it is exported to neighboring provinces.

Zafari emphasized: Lack of sufficient water in vineyards has reduced the production of Nahavand grapes by 10% compared to the same period last year because Nahavand vineyards are mainly planted in rainfed lands.

Referring to the beginning of saffron peach harvest, he added: In this city, we have 2,000 hectares of peach orchards of fig peach, separate kernel peach and saffron peach, which is expected to produce 31,000 tons of peach in Nahavand orchards this year. The consumption of the city is exported to the provinces of Tehran, Markazi and Kermanshah.

The director of Nahavand agricultural jihad said: more than two thousand people are working seasonally in the field of planting, holding and harvesting grape and peach crops in Nahavand.

He said: the use of micronutrients, pruning and timely irrigation and the use of pesticides has caused the horticultural products of city to become the best horticultural products in the province.

Zafari called the use of the opinions of horticultural experts in different stages of planting, holding and harvesting important and added: Moving from traditional agriculture to industry using mechanized machines has an important role in increasing further production.
